Following the Manifesto’s one-year Anniversary and in line with the 'Citizen Focus' Action Cluster’s new initiative dedicated to Participatory Budgeting, a series of three webinars was launched in December 2017 to continue fostering knowledge sharing and capacity building in the implementation of Participatory Budgeting processes and initiatives across Smart Cities.
The first webinar was hosted on 6 December 2017 and covered the use of platforms for Participatory Budgeting purposes. Moving forward with the series, a second webinar will be held on 14 March 2018 from 14:00 pm to 15:30 pm.
Throughout this session, knowledgeable scholars will offer insightful talks on the role of local Administrations in enabling Participatory Budgeting practices and projects.
Kindly confirm your participation here by 12 March 2018.
About Citizen Focus & Participatory Budgeting
Citizen Focus is the European Innovation Partnerships on Smart Cities and Communities’ Action Cluster promoting the empowerment, participation and engagement of citizens in their urban environments.
The Action Cluster is active in the EU arena since 2014, endorsing networking efforts with key stakeholders and policymakers. You may learn more about our initiatives, among which you will find Participatory Budgeting (PB), at the following link.
Since the beginning of its journey in Brazil, back in the ‘90s, European examples of PB have increased from 55 to over 1.300 over the 2005/2012 timeframe.
It is a powerful tool with a strong exploitation potential in Smart Cities planning and implementation. Additionally, it could be piloted in relevant areas of intervention among which energy efficiency, waste management and smart mobility.
A third and final webinar will conclude the series: during the last session, points of strengths and weaknesses will be evaluated.
