Accelerate the take up of smart city through the Triple Helix (government, knowledge institutes and industry)

Description
The action will be to organize workshops with triple helix partners (government, knowledge institutes and industry) on the impact of the Partnership and its objectives,
Knowledge Sharing
Sustainable Urban Mobility, Sustainable Districts and Built Environment, Integrated Infrastructures and Processess across Energy, ICT, and Transport, Citizen Focus, Integrated Planning, Policy, Regulation and Management, Standards, Baselines and Performance Indicators and Metrics, Business Models, Procurement and Funding

We propose to accelerate the take up of smart city solutions through stimulating a more conducive environment with the support of all stakeholders of the Triple Helix by Knowledge Sharing. The action will be to organize workshops with triple helix partners (government, knowledge institutes and industry) on the impact of the Partnership and its objectives, focus on potential applications in calls of EIP SCC and Horizon 2020 and finally apply for calls of EIP SCC and Horizon 2020.

We propose to use the network ,the existing pillars and work conferences to enhance the main goals of the EIP SCC in sustainable urban mobility, sustainable districts and built environment, and Integrated infrastructures along the so called horizontals of the framework: Citizen Focus, Policy and regulation, integrated planning and management, knowledge sharing, baselines, performance indicators and Metrics, Open data, standards, business models, finance and procurement.

The G32-city network also brings in the Network of Digital Cities (Digitale Steden Agenda, DSA) . The DSA is written from our belief that smart use of ICT is an important contribution to solving various social, environmental and city issues in our society. We want to understand these challenges and join in the search for solutions to the energy present in all kinds of cities. It is important to have the right people at the right table (managers, entrepreneurs, government officials, professors, active citizens, etc.), people who have vision, see opportunities and are action driven. It consists of projects in the field of: the Caring City, Green City, Safe City, the Industrious Town, Learning City, Our Town and No Rules City, supplemented with the theme "Open Networks".

The European Innovation Partnership on Smart Cities and Communities (EIP-SCC) brings together cities, industry and citizens to improve urban life through more sustainable integrated solutions. This includes applied innovation, better planning, a more participatory approach, higher energy efficiency, better transport solutions, intelligent use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), etc
The G32 underwrite the Partnership and its objectives. Our own mission on the integrated approach to urban issues, attractive business climate and livability, safety and inclusion in cities, links towards the overall goals of the Partnership. The G32 provide a broad platform for knowledge exchange between the cities themselves (members and non-members) and gives space to share knowledge with partners in the various areas of the network. We have already started with triple helix (government, knowledge institutes and industry) workshops on the impact of the Partnership and its objectives.

All sectors mentioned (ICT, energy and transport and mobility sectors) are addressed by the G32-city network. Supplementary to this, we also include in this call healthcare and ICT sector. Many cities in the network have close relationship with start-ups and growing companies, both in the fields of state of the art technology as in the field of commonly used technologies. Other actors across the innovation chain include knowledge institutes, normal and technical universities and universities of applied sciences. The G32-city network wants to partner with infrastructure owners and infrastructure service providers.

Is the commitment potentially open to additional partners and if so, in which priority area (please tick the relevant options)?

  • Sustainable Urban Mobility
  • Sustainable Districts and Built Environment
  • Integrated Infrastructures and Processes across Energy, ICT, and Transport
  • Citizen Focus
  • Policy and Regulation
  • Integrated Planning and Management
  • Knowledge Sharing
  • Baselines, Performance Indicators and Metrics
  • Open Data Governance
  • Standards
  • Business Models, Procurement and Funding

We propose deliveries on knowledge sharing in various fields to deepen the existing cooperation and to further expand to other cities and their partners in the Netherlands and other parts of the European Union.

Examples are:
The G32 is committed to accelerating the sustainability of the housing stock and the implementation of Smart Grids in relation to renewable energy. In G32 cities are already in projects in these fields that can be developed further. Focus: Citizen Focus and Knowledge Sharing.

The G32 have the scale of large multi-pole metropolitan city and offer a perfect scale for smart mobility city projects with aims decreasing carbon emission and improving the quality of air. The G32 offer (under conditions) public space to implement smart solutions. Focus: Knowledge Sharing , business models, open data and metrics&indicators.

The G32 is committed to accelerating applied innovation. Focus: Citizen Focus, Policy, integrated planning and management, new business models

Results expected in
